In 1989, Rolex replaced the long-running Air-King ref. 5500 with the Air-King ref. 14000. The Air-King 14000 brought a sapphire crystal and the brand-new Caliber 3000 movement to the series. The Air-King 14000 is among the most subtle-looking Rolex watches available in terms of design. It has an Oyster band made of stainless steel, a time-only dial, and a 34mm stainless steel case.
The Air-King 14000, like the majority of casual Rolex watches, has a choice of dial styles, such as stick indexes, Roman numerals, and even the the recognizable 3/6/9 numerals. The color options range from vivid blue to ultra-trendy salmon to clean white. If you look closely at the dial, you'll see that "Precision" or "Super Precision" (more on that later) are the only words displayed.
