Here is this Rolex GMT Master Pepsi 16700 with a beautiful black dial, steel case and mind blowing patina on the bezel. The steel case is in good condition and has a diameter of 40mm and is water-resistant to 100 meters, which is the same as the preceding GMT-Master ref. 16750. The ref. 16700, on the other hand, was the first GMT-Master with a scratch-resistant sapphire crystal instead of acrylic. The GMT-Master 16700 has an aluminum bezel insert, this particular bezel has a faded tone which portrays a vintage look to the watch. It has a few scratches do to its age.
Rolex provided a sporty three-link Oyster bracelet and a dressier five-link Jubilee bracelet with the GMT-Master 16700, both in solid stainless steel. The Oyster bracelet was updated in 1989 to incorporate the more secure Oysterlock clasp, which includes an additional cover lock mechanism that prevents the bracelet from unintentionally opening.
The inclusion of lug holes, which provide a classic tool watch look and make switching out the bands for other straps much easier, is another wonderful element of the GMT-Master 16700 that certain vintage Rolex aficionados will love. The Caliber 3175 movement, which replaced the Caliber 3075 that powered the preceding GMT-Master ref. 16750, was new to the Rolex GMT-Master 16700. It is running as it should.
